John Nye
John Nye, Owner/Auctioneer, Dawson & Nye, graduated with honors
from Hamilton College, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Art
History. He worked at Sotheby's for 15 years, serveing as Loan Portfolio
Manager, Cataloger, Head of the Arcade Furniture Department, and, most
recently, Senior Vice President and Department Head of the American
Furniture and Decorations Department.
Nye serves on the Board of the Nye Family Association, an
organization dedicated to the preservation of the Benjamin Nye House.
In addition, Nye is a member of the Friends of the American Wing at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Association of Watch and Clock
Collectors of America, the Pewter Collectors Club of America, and the
Decorative Arts Trust. He frequently lectures about Americana.
Nye is an architecture enthusiast and an avid outdoorsman. He and
his wife, Kathleen Nye, have three children and live in South Orange,
New Jersey.
Kathleen Nye
Kathleen Nye, Vice-President and Bidding Services, graduated from Skidmore College with a Bachelor's degree in Art History. She studied with the American Society of Appraisers, having completed several courses. Nye worked at Dawson's Auction House for five years as an Appraiser, developing a specialty in Sterling Silver.
Nye is a member of the Junior League of the Oranges and Short Hills and the Tony Smith Foundation in South Orange, NJ. She is active in the greater South Orange community, serving as a Pierro Gallery volunteer, Class Parent, and PTA member. In addition, Nye, is a Friend of the American Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, A Friend of the American Association of Appraisers and is a member of the Morristown Club.
Nye and her husband, John Nye, have three children and live in South Orange, New Jersey.
Andrew K. Holter
As Dawson & Nye's newest employee, Andrew left Sotheby's after nearly a five-year tenure as an Assistant Vice President. Taking with him an extensive working knowledge of the Decorative Arts and numerous connections in both the private and public sectors, he is proud to join the team. He is also a contributing member to Winterthur Museum, Colonial Williamsburg, The Metropolitan Museum.s Friends of the American Wing, The Decorative Arts Trust, The National Trust for Historic Preservation and Preservation New Jersey. Andrew is the proud father of two sons, Tristan and Ashton. Together with his lovely wife, Danielle, they reside in Monmouth County, New Jersey.
Lawrence Iorio
Lawrence Iorio joined Dawson and Nye as an Associate in October 2004. His childhood interest in 18th century American antiques never waned, helping earn him the high praise as "one of the best eye's in the business". Over the years, he developed a keen interest in Windsor seating furniture and an expertise in New Jersey tall case clocks. Lawrence lectures on the subject and has been a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors for twenty-six years. He has worked closely with the finest dealers of Americana, and a number of his discoveries now reside in many of the best private collections in the country, as a result. He is the proud father of two fine young men, Lawrence and Matthew.
