Michael Lindsey, New England Regional Representative
Michael Lindsey is a graduate of the California College of Appraisers, holding two degrees; one for appraisal of antiques of all types, the other for appraising historical collections with emphasis on ephemera and military memorabilia. Lindsey came late to the antique and collectible community. He started out as a journalist at the age of 15 writing obituaries for a nickel a word. Over the years, he has written for several music magazines, has been a reporter for the, The Quincy Patriot Ledger and the Boston Herald and other publications. Mr. Lindsey was a military journalist (1973-1981), working as the editor of the Ist Armored Division newspaper and others. He received many awards for military correspondence, including the Savanuck Award, the U.S. Army's highest. While in the military, he was also a reporter for the European Edition of The Stars and Stripes (1979-80). He has considerable knowledge of collectible military memorabilia He has taught journalism at UMass, Boston, which he also attended. For the past 15 years Lindsey has been buying, selling and appraising antiques on Cape Cod. He is the owner of Abeel and Lindsey Appraisal services and most recently appraised the professional and personal papers of noted American journalist William Worthy for placement in the Johns Hopkins rare books and manuscripts department.
