"Historical Society Of Berks County Hosts Antiques And Collectibles Symposium"

READING, PENN. The Historical Society of Berks County is presenting a symposium, .The World of Antiques and Collectibles. on June 11-12 at the Penn State Berks Campus, Perkins Center. Featured guest speakers include Christopher Kent, Wendy A. Cooper, Harry Rinker, John Nye, Chippy Irvine and Keith Irvine.
The symposium will open with a reception on Friday, June 11, at 5:30 pm. Dinner from 6:30 to 8 will be followed by a program by television and radio personality Christopher Kent in the Perkins Theater.
Kent is a regular contributor on the Goodlife television network with a program on antiques and collectibles appraisals. He hosts an America Radio Network program, Antique Talk, and television.s Fleamarket Mania.
Cooper has been the senior curator of furniture of Winterthur Museum since 1995. Prior to that she was senior curator of decorative arts at the Baltimore Museum of Art from 1987 to 1995.
Rinker is nationally known as an antiques and collectibles author, columnist, lecturer and appraiser. He hosts the television program Collector Inspector, a weekly show on the virtuals and Garden Network. He also hosts four weekly radio shows.
Nye, of Dawson & Nye Auctioneers, Morris Plains, N.J., formerly held positions with the Philip H. Bradley Company, Downingtown, Penn., and most recently Sotheby.s in New York City, where he was head of the American furniture and decorative deparment.
Chippy Irvine has worked in all aspects of fashion design in London and New York for 20 years. She has written ten books, including her latest, The English Room. She is also contributing editor for Arts and Antiques and a feature editor of Design Times.
Keith Irvine, an interior designer for more than 40 years, is a member of the firm Irving Fleming Bell, New York City. He co-founded the fabric company Clarence House.
