Auction House Announces Largest Estate Treasures Collectibles Sale Ever
Morris Plains, NJ . June 3, 2004
Dawson and Nye announce the sale of a Goshen, New York collection on June 19, 2004. The private individual acquired hundreds of objects over the last thirty years. His collection includes an excellent assortment of occupational shaving mugs, a large number of Stieff animals, numerous wall and mantle clocks, steins, books, furniture, Victorian pitcher-and-bowl sets and barber memorabilia. Additions to this core collection include dolls, doll furniture and a large collection of Cybis porcelain figures.
This auction breaks away from the traditional Tuesday evening Estate Treasures format. The Estate Treasures auctions . the venue for selling more moderately priced objects, typically under $500 - are headed by the firm.s Shaun Quinn. .Due to the shear size of the collection, we knew there would be just too many lots to get through on a week night., said Quinn, .so we had to think of another way to present it to our collectors. The sale will encompass nearly 600 lots, including some additions. He will produce a fully illustrated, printed catalogue, which will be available in the gallery.
The contents of the entire catalogue will be on the company.s website: www.dawsonandnye.com approximately one week prior to the sale. Dawson and Nye will have public viewing hours on Wednesday, June 16th, 12pm - 8 pm; Thursday, June 17th, 12pm - 5pm; Saturday, June 19th, 8am - 10am. The auction begins at 10am.
John Nye recently acquired the firm of Dawson.s Auctions after a fifteen year long career at Sotheby.s, where he most recently directed the American Furniture and Decorative Arts Department. He lives in South Orange, New Jersey and focuses on selling .fresh. estate property.
